Sodality
The Sodality at St. John's was founded in the 1930's by the women of the parish. The group, with it's special devotion to our Blessed Mother, was founded as a way for the women of the parish to engage in spiritual and corporal works of mercy and to assist the pastor in any endeavors he requested.
Our mission statement has evolved over the years, but was most recently revised in 1989: "The St John the Baptist Sodality acts through its organization to support, empower, and educate all Catholic Women in spirituality, leadership and service. St John's programs respond with Gospel values to the needs of the Church and Parish in the modern world" (as adapted from the National Council of Catholic Women).
Currently, we focus on spirituality, education, and service through our projects and monthly meetings. Our special projects have included:
- Support of a school in Somatillo, Nicaragua Baby shower/donations to Care Net Pregnancy Center Gifts and breakfast for First Communion children Coordinating spiritual projects (May Crowning, pilgrimage to The Shrine of Divine Mercy) Clothing Drive (with the youth group) Holiday Food Baskets
- Donations to Right to Life, missions, many local charities, and the Bishop’s Fund
